I am Rose-marie Fernandez. I am a Certified Coach specializing in “Transition Coaching”. I have a varied and a broad background including certification as a Human Resources Professional with over 30 years of experience. I have held senior corporate level positions in a variety of sectors in Canada and internationally.
Despite working with organizations and peoples in unique and challenging positions that gave me tremendous joy and satisfaction, I have spent a greater part of my life in search of a greater purpose, I have always felt that there was a missing link in my life that was blocking my path towards discovering my true purpose and ignite a passion that would give me drive and fulfillment.
My life’s journey has moved me through several transitions, both in my personal and professional life, through jobs, travels, and family and life circumstances – saying my good-byes when closing doors and saying hello as new ones opened.
I am in gratitude for the exposure and experiences that life presented me, but that emptiness within me that kept me searching for more answers to the meaning of my life. I always knew that my true spirit resonated in working with people, being in the caring profession, to help people to do better in recognizing their true worth and the limitless potential they possess, and that by using their own inner resources they could lead a more complete life that gave joy personally and professionally.
My life’s passage preferred “the road less traveled” and although I enjoyed where I was and what I did, it was satisfying but it was not fulfilling. My work gave me life “in” abundance but not “of” abundance.
I came to a realization that being a Human Resources Professional was not enough, facilitating workshops and trainings that dealt with skill and competency building was not the way individuals felt compelled to learn and make changes in their professional and personal lives. I knew that I would need to tap my inner core through holistic techniques in order to bring about a sustainable transformation in myself and others, that would raise consciousness leading to achieving fulfillment and alignment in the totality of our lives.
I want to share two events in my life that remain emblazoned on my mind, and steered me in the direction that my life took. Event one, my father quite unknowingly took me to see an uncensored version of the film Freud” at the age of 10. I did not know the word Psychology until then. This film had a lasting influence on me. As a result I developed a keen interest in Psychology, Human Behaviour, a curiosity of how the human mind worked, and that if we were to discover our true purpose we could exert control our lives.
Event two - my sister gave me Hans Victor E. Frankl’s , Mans Search for Meaning to read. Frankl’s thoughts were so profound, that I was able to go through a particularly challenging patch in my life landing on my two feet so to speak. Frankl’s theories strongly validated for me that the brain and the mind; conscious, subconscious and unconscious play a vital role in how we perform, what we achieve in our lifetimes, and that if we were to implicitly believe in our selves and our God given gifts we could rise to greater heights.
Therefore to me it seemed, if one practiced with mind science techniques, positive psychology, tried and tested coaching techniques one could navigate their life to achieving dreams, discover who they are and make breakthrough shifts in thought and behaviour to be successful.
There is no parallel to the personal joy that I experience in playing a role in helping people through their transitions – the “aha” moments that my clients experience and articulate – validates for me that the techniques I have learned and now apply draw awesome results for them and myself.
